Maria Huhmarniemi: Sterni (Tähti / Star) III

Sterni - series of sculptures is based on German word Stern meaning a star. I have got inspirations from traditional Finnish decoration "Himmeli", rooted to the German-Swedish word Himmel. Himmeli is made of short strips of rye straw tied together with strings to form a complex and symmetrical three-dimensional structure. In the series of Sterni sculptures, structure is large in scale, and material is yellow plastic driking straws.
