In Finland in the spring leaves burst from the birch trees in one day, showing their budding leaves. In Finnish the leaves are called "mouse's ears".
Because Finland is so long a country, one could follow this happening from the southern part of Finland to the north - around a two week span of budding leaves.
I am very grumpy if I am not home on this day.
