Pekka Kaikkonen: “Aalloilla vuonna 2022”

Completion year: 2022
Technique: plywood
Size: 10cm x 10cm x 3cm
I participated in the year 0f the Finnish Medal Art Guild in 2022 as a draft of this plywood. At the breakfast table, we have Aalto beverage glasses designed by Aino Aalto, which, to my amazement, had come to production in 1932, 90 years ago! I made the wave format to celebrate this issue in 2022. The terrible thing came into the idea when I wrote an accompaniment to the competition on February 25,2022. Russia has attacked Ukraine the previous day. Europe was now on real wawes! In addition, my son had started military service in January 2022. The jury of the competition appreciated my work with the 3rd prize. The wooden model could be made of mold with silicone and cast a bronze as well as the traditional medal tradition do.
