Artist’s Statement
In my artistic work I explore different phenomena like perceptions of time, timeless states, the space between the visible and invisible world, liminality, and the aesthetics of what is silence and emptiness. I am interested in the process of making art, colour, form, and structuring the surface. As a visual artist I have been praised for my strong use of colour and shape in my artworks, as well as my unique way of using light.
Our mind defines the world with language. We try to apply names, which define the form of phenomena for all matters. With my art I ask whether or not there is something more beyond thinking? What is essential in this short, fleeting life? Often, what is left out of the visualisation is more important than the issues depicted. My works are minimalistic installations.
I live and work in Ii, Finland and Madrid, Spain. At the moment, I am a doctoral student of the Faculty of Arts, at the University of Lapland, researching how to map timeless spaces and to unfold unconsciousness as an embodied experience. I have also studied visual arts at the University of Lapland and Universidad de La Laguna, Spain, and qualified as a graphic artist and illustrator at the Kuopio Academy of Design. I have had the pleasure of exhibiting my work in several national and international group and solo exhibitions.
