Päivi Hintsanen: Murheen kyyneltäjä – The Artisan of the Tears of Grief
The nine print series of the Tear Artisans is part of the bigger entity in which I'm documenting the life of imaginary Garden of Tears.
The Garden of Tears has been molded inside my head for so long, that I’ve also started imagine its history and culture. In my Garden of Tears the tear trees may grow from the tears of the nine Tear Artisans, or they can be bred by grafting the branches (similar as grafting of the apple trees). I imagine the Tear Artisans sitting on the very simple chairs here and there on the quiet and shadowy places in garden; they are sitting with the tear vessels in their lap, and collect the tears they have cried to be used as seeds. Their works is quiet and slow, and eternal.
