Päivi Hintsanen: Vaskenruosteyrttitarha – Copper Rust Herb Garden
Copper Rust Herb Garden installation is based on the slow changing mechanism: time gradually gathers `rust´ to the small metallic `sculptures´ in glass jars. The corrosion of different metals is seen in different ways: iron makes red rust – the rust that we generally know – but upon copper, which is the main metal of the installation plants, gathers turquoise ‘rust’, which in the art history is known as a historical painting pigment verdigris.
