In the work "Always Missing Something," the starting point is sheets hanging on a string. It is the idea of time and place. How do we always wander to some other moment than this? At home, we long for elsewhere. Elsewhere, we long for home.

The work consists of paintings where the paint paste and the material underneath have disappeared. The same rhythm can be seen in the paintings as in bed sheet laces. Bed sheet lace is a narrow ribbon-like lace used as a decoration on the top sheet, or upper sheet. The top sheet was used to protect the blanket in such a way that the decorated edge was turned over the top of the blanket at the head end. In the 1960s, duvet covers began to replace top sheets, and they were left in closets as heirloom textiles.

The work has been on display at the residence of the Finnish Embassy in Madrid since 5/2025.
